Planning Permission

Planning permission is not required for change of use in a single use class. For example, you will not need planning permission to convert a hairdresser's shop to a toy shop and otherwise. However, in simple terms planning permission relates to 'what the proposed work will look like' and building regulations is to do with how it will be built. These regulations cover the size of any extra space that can be created without requiring any planning permission. So at the start of your project, you have to think if the development would require a planning permission, or building regulations approval, or if it would be necessary to get both for your project.
